Brown Sugar & Cinnamon Baked Apples

I guess I’m in the mood for desserts because they seem to be at least half of the new recipes I’ve been trying lately. I wanted a baked apple but was having trouble finding a recipe that didn’t use butter! I ran across Wenderly’s simple brown sugar and cinnamon apple recipe and thought I’d give it a shot. It’s simple and doesn’t contain any non-wfpb ingredients; best of all: they are super easy to make. “Easy” is always a selling point for me when I’m looking for new recipes.

These turn out very well, though be warned if you put in too much brown sugar it’ll come out a bit goopy. If that’s a problem for you. It’s not a problem for me.

Ingredients:

Servings: 1

  • 1 apple of your choice, cored and sliced thin
    • I recommend using Honeycrisps, Pink Ladies, or Gala apples
  • about 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • about 2 tbs. brown sugar

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Tear off a piece of foil large enough to hold all of the apple slices with room to spare. Set the foil on a baking sheet.

Place all of the apple slices in the middle of the foil. Shake the cinnamon and brown sugar over the slices.

Wrap the apple in the foil and twist or crumple the top to completely close the foil pack somewhat tightly around the apple.

Bake in the oven for 25 minutes.

Allow the foil pack to sit and cool before opening.
